Right of withdrawal
Herroepingsrecht
You have fourteen days from the day after delivery to change your mind, with no reason needed. Socks bring one complication, the sealed-item exception, and this page sets out exactly how far that exception goes. It is narrower than most shops pretend.
How long do I have, and how do I do it?
- Fourteen days, counted from the day after the parcel is delivered. If an order arrives in more than one parcel, the clock starts from the last one.
- Tell us in any clear way: an email to support@sockmyfeetnl.shop is enough. If you prefer a form, use the modelformulier voor herroeping.
- Sending the message within the fourteen days is what counts. You then have another fourteen days to actually send the goods back.
- If we had failed to tell you about this right, the period would extend by twelve months. We tell you on the product page, at checkout, in the confirmation email and in every parcel, so that should not arise.
What do I get back?
- The price of the goods, in full.
- The standard shipping you paid on the way out. If you chose a faster service, we refund the standard rate and not the difference.
- Within fourteen days of you telling us, using the same means of payment you used, unless you agree to something else. We may wait until the goods are back with us, or until you show they were sent, whichever comes first.
- Return postage is yours unless the goods were faulty, wrongly described or wrongly sent, in which case it is ours. We are telling you this before you buy, which is the condition for it being yours at all.
- The one exception on return postage we pay by choice: swapping the unwanted size out of a Type B box. See maat en ruilen.
Socks are hygiene goods. Does the right even apply?
Mostly yes. Dutch law removes the right of withdrawal only for goods that are not suitable for return for reasons of health protection or hygiene and that were delivered sealed and whose seal has been broken. All three have to be true at once.
Applied to what we sell, that means:
- A pair delivered in a sealed bag, still sealed: full right of withdrawal.
- A pair delivered in a sealed bag, bag opened: that pair is out.
- A pair held by a paper band or a swing tag: not sealed, so the right applies whether or not you opened it. A band is not a seal.
- The outer box: not a seal either. Opening the box you were sent changes nothing at all.
Every pair on this site is marked sealed or not sealed on its product page, individually, before you buy.
If I open one pair, does the whole box become non-returnable?
No. This is the single most common thing shops get wrong in this category, and it is worth being blunt about: a gift box is one order, but the hygiene exception attaches to an individual sealed pair. It cannot spread to the pairs you did not touch.
| What happened | What can go back |
|---|---|
| Nothing opened | The whole box, plus standard shipping refunded. |
| One sealed pair opened | Every other pair in the box. Only the opened sealed pair drops out. |
| One pair opened, that pair was not sealed | The whole box, including that pair. |
| Outer box opened, inner pairs untouched | The whole box. The outer box is not a seal. |
| Several sealed pairs opened | Everything except those specific pairs. |
If you open one pair, the rest of the box can still go back. We will refund the pairs that come back and the proportion of shipping that goes with them.

Can I try them on?
You can handle the goods as you would in a shop: take them out, look at them, hold them against your foot, measure them. You can put them on over your own socks or on a clean floor for a moment to check the length.
What you cannot do is wear them properly and then send them back as unworn. If a pair comes back visibly worn or washed, we may reduce the refund by the loss in value, and for a sealed pair the exception above applies anyway.
I was given a box. Can I return it?
The right of withdrawal belongs to the person who made the contract, which is the person who paid. That is the law, and we cannot change it.
What we can do, and do: you can contact us directly about size. Every parcel goes out with a card carrying our email and phone number, so you never have to go back to the person who sent it. We will arrange an exchange with you and settle the paperwork with the buyer ourselves.
If a box was sent to you as part of a multi-address order, your parcel carries its own withdrawal notice and its own model form, because you are the one holding the goods.

Use a tracked service if you can. The goods are your responsibility until they reach us, and tracking is the cheapest way to prove they did.
What if we still disagree?
- Write to us and say so plainly. We would rather fix it than argue about it.
